| I remember my father, Ralph M. Garcia, Sr., taking me to see the "machine" that made the clouds. I got to see the insides of this magic place, the Plaza Theater. My dad was so proud of this building and he was just an electrician hired to work on the lighting and machinery used to create the effect of being outdoors. My dad is gone now, but everytime I visit The Plaza, I remember being in places and seeing areas that the general public will never see. This is only one of my many memories of this wonderful place. El Paso has been blessed with something not many cities have. I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for five years and visited their Fox Theater. I remember feeling very proud that El Paso had the Plaza Theater that ranked right up there with the Fox, and is maybe even grander than the Fox. Like my father, I am proud of our Plaza Theater. |
