The Plaza Theatre Stage:
  • Proscenium Opening: 47’5” wide x 21’9” tall
  • Stage Depth: 85’ from the upstage wall to through center stage and to the end of the apron
  • The stage uses a single purchase fly system.
  • The floor is made out of maple.
Seating:
  • There are 4 rows of removable seating (BBB – EEE) which can be used or taken out to accommodate an orchestra pit.
  • There are 2039 seats in the entire Plaza Theatre (including the four rows of removable seating)
  • The mezzanine and balcony are supported by a 70’ long steel I-beam which allows there to be no obstructed view seats in the orchestra.
Theatre Sound:

Sound installed by Akustiks, an acoustical engineering firm nationally recognized as one of the best at acoustical engineering and planning theatre and performing art venues. Some of their previous work can be heard in the Boston Opera House, the Kennedy Center, and the Teatro Alberto Nepomuceno in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Byrne-Arrow Construction – Thos. S. Byrne is a construction firm out of Dallas, TX with 80 years of experience. This firm has renovated and revitalized the Texas State Capitol Building and the Governor’s Mansion. T.S. Byrne has partnered with Arrow Building Corporation of El Paso, which has performed work on the Union Plaza Transit Terminal, Thomason Hospital Central Plant, Memorial Park Branch Library, and parts of the El Paso County Courthouse renovation.

ECM International, Construction Management Consultants – an El Paso firm founded in 1983 that has completed projects in the United States, Mexico, Central America, Canada, and England. These projects have included municipal, state, and federal governmental entities, and Fortune 500 companies.

Martinez & Johnson Architecture, Principal Architects – they are architectural firm is an expert in the restoration and adaptive reuse of historic structures. The company specializes in the theatre renovations and has designed venues such as the Boston Opera House, The Kiel Opera House, and the Warner Theatre in D.C.

Evergreene Studios, Inc. – Historic Plaster and Paint Restoration, one of the two acknowledged national experts in historical restoration, plaster, and painting. The firm used techniques similar to those used by Michelangelo and those still used today to maintain the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Evergreene’s credits include Radio City Music Hall and the New Amsterdam Theatre among others.

Schuler Shook, Inc. – Theatre Planners, they are considered among the best in the world in planning performing arts centers. The Minneapolis, MN company has planned the world-class elements of the Plaza Theatre, from the 83 foot high fly tower backstage to the orchestra shell which augments live performances. Other venues which Schuler Shook, Inc. has worked on include the Kennedy Center Performance Hall and the Smithsonian Performing Arts Center.
